Peninsula Triathlon, Suffolk, 13 Oct 2019

On Sunday I completed the Peninsula Triathlon at the Royal Hospital School, Suffolk. This was my last competitive event of the year, so I wanted to do well. The weather was forecasted rain and wind, again but lucky enough it wasnt too bad, with only light drizzle on the day. The triathlon consisted of a 500m swim, 22 mile cycle and 5k run. The distances suited me well, so was really looking forward to this event. The swim felt good and was happy with my time. The pool was 38m long which felt weird because it was so long. I came 2nd lady in the swim which I was pleased with.

T1 went ok, but I decided to put socks on as my feet hadn't healed from last week’s event and I didn't want to make them any worse. I could still do with some more transition practice to save time. The bike was a hilly and gravelly route with lots of technical parts and junctions. I therefore decided to use my road bike and try out the new position after my bike fit with Tim. I felt comfortable on my new set up and paced it well. Although I wanted to go out hard on the bike, I also needed to save something for the run. I had the fastest ladies time which I was pleased with.

T2 went well, I think it was one of my fastest times in transition. I was also 1st lady at this point which I found out by the results afterwards. Unfortunately, the run was a let down, which was expected with not much training. It put me down to 4th place female which was really annoying. I did however come 1st In my age group which I was happy with.
