Black Country Triathletes Sprint Triathlon, 5 Aug 2021

I had good fun at the Black Country Triathletes sprint triathlon on Sunday. I started in the last swim wave which was meant to start at 10:30 but we got called at 10:05 meaning I wasn’t even in my tri suit or warmed up!

I had a good swim, swimming with other Super Series and elite athletes which helped motivate a fast swim.

The bike was a 20km out and back with a 300m ‘dead zone’ where times were stopped due to road works, so we got to go easy through there and not worry about it affecting our overall time. This was great coming back into transition as it meant we got a little rest before running.

The course was fast with a few big hills, unfortunately we had the head wind coming back in instead of on the way out.🙄

After a good swim and bike it was on to the 5k off road run. The run went well for the first 3km until my shoes started to rub my heels causing a very painful last 2km to the finish!

Despite the blisters on the run I came away with 2nd woman overall.
