BUCS Duathlon, 17 Nov 2024

I was very excited heading into BUCS Duathlon, my first race since starting proper training and coaching almost 2 months ago! After a slightly less ideal week leading up due to a sailing competition, I was slightly nervous, my main goal was to beat my time from last year. The event had a fantastic atmosphere, and the sun even managed to come out for my wave!

I got a bit too excited starting the race and eventually settled onto a pace that I could sustain for the 5k. The bike leg felt so much more comfortable, consistent and quicker than last year (no doubt thanks to my significantly better bike position) and I managed to set a new 20k PB! On to the final run it took a couple of minutes for my calves to get used to running and to settle onto my pace again, but I felt pretty happy with how it was going and tried to bring the pace down for the final 500m, I finished in a time of 1:33:57 – a 4-minute PB on last year!

Overall, I was happy with my result and have lots to improve on for my next race!
